Meet and Greet tomorrow at 6 pm

Many of my staff team are here tomorrow (Friday 24th August) evening until 6.30 pm.  Parents do come along and meet the team, chat to those you know, you are very welcome.  Thanks ALLY

Dessert and Prize Giving at Sports Day

Mary and Lara will serve desserts from the outdoor classroom located at the back of the kitchen in the pre-school/Hazel garden. After which we will have prize giving from the hut which is located in the back garden in the pre-school/Hazel garden. Ice lollies and ice creams will be available at that point!

Sports Day Food and Drink

When our spectacular races have concluded. Please depart the field via our our paddock area (where the castle is). You can find your own seating in our extensive grounds, find your beverages in bluebell or start the queue for food which will be served in our car park at the exit point of the front garden (Primrose/Baby Garden). A one way system will form for food, upon food collection please re-enter the nursery gardens via your usual everyday gate into nursery. Enjoy!

House Keeping for Sports Day

Bawani is our head of first aid for the event. She will be found in the red team area by the music. Please direct any needs to her, she has plasters and has cold compresses available. Alternatively go to the nearest member of staff who will help you. Please be assured that we have an army of extremely qualified first aiders at your disposal in the unlikely event of a trip or fall. Advice is always to go steady around our track!
Sadly we are not set up for tea and coffee making, it is hard to find the time to make and for a safe consumption area to drink. Sorry.
Bluebell is our staff room building, located in the first garden when you enter nursery and on your right. In here we house a small quantity of soft drinks for parents. White wine and beer are in the fridges there. This is a help yourself idea with plentiful stocks. Please refrain from accessing this until after the races finish at approximately 4 pm. We do no want glass bottles at the track side to keep us safe and to avoid parents from becoming distracted when children are racing.
At the track side we are supplying children and adults with cold bottled water located in two huge black containers containing ice. Please help yourselves.

Sports Day Weather

I’m not looking at the forecast anymore, seems a fine day for our Sports Day predicted presently. We go ahead anyway come rain or shine, there is no back up date available. We would need to have very high winds to cancel the event and we would contact you through this website, our nursery app’ and text should that happen. Rarely we have needed to take cover for a few minutes and return to track side. Please be aware that the nursery building is not suitable to house everyone if the rain falls heavily, there simply isn’t enough space for you all. In the unlikely event of a down pour, families should return to their vehicles for a period of time and we will resume events as quickly as we are able. Thanks ALLY

Sports Day Car Park

Parking for sports day is in our field which is accessed via the five bar gate by the roundhouse, this will be open from 1.30 pm and open all afternoon. Parents should be alert to the fact that the gates are open all afternoon and therefore no physical barrier from our sports day to Church Hill are in place. Drive straight in along the fence line on your right, parking places will be obvious. The nursery car park will only be used by those driving vehicles that need to exit and return during our event and for our caterers. Having the car park clear gives us a great sight line to ensure children are close to parents and safe.
In the unlikely event of an unsuitable field worthy vehicle being stuck. We have an army of people here, ropes and 4 wheel drive vehicles at our disposal. Don’t panic the field is dry.  Thanks ALLY

Sports Day excites for Friday start at 2pm!

The frenzy has started; nothing goes unnoticed here, the children and staff have eyes in the backs of their heads as I discreetly attempt to move team coloured bunting from one area to another.

The questions increase from parents (particularly the green team, as they take more casual strolls into nursery, trying to get one step ahead of their opponents).

Nothing to see here, we are well organised.  The top tip is not to arrive before 1.30 pm on Friday because you won’t find a finish line within our grounds to set up base camp early!  Kick off is at 2 pm.

More details will be revealed on the app’ too, so watch that Nutfield space for messages.  You and your children will be fed and watered well, have the opportunity to have fun and we are prepared to race until you have flattened our Nutfield field putting 2019 Sports Day into jeopardy!

Our only ask at this stage is for you to let us know if you can’t make it, this makes a big difference to our endeavour with trying to make the teams equal.

And PLEASE, PLEASE, will all of you try and find your team coloured glad rags or any clothing that identifies you with your team.  Your clothing efforts make it so much easier for us to organise getting the children entered into the races and underway, not to mention the massive audience understanding of who they can identify and cheer for.  Thank you very much.  Excites’ continue. . .

May all teams enjoy.  ALLY

Staff News

We wanted to let you know that Sajitha has now completed her course after her placement with us and has moved on.

Sadly we say goodbye to Angela at the very end of August as she takes up a new role, close to home and term time only.  Angie is so experienced; she has embraced all rooms at nursery throughout 2018, a wonderful calming character who never has an off day.  Full of creation and patience with the children who have made her short days with us so enjoyable for her and them.

Lastly, Sophie from Cornflower passes her Forest Schools Lead Practitioner Course.  Fully qualified with her outdoors First Aid training too – well done Sophie, great job, full of the Nutfield spirit now . . .
